Project Titles:
- Importance
of oxygen supply in intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) pregnancies:
correlation between in vivo and in vitro studies.
- In
vivo experimental study of placental amino acid transport
and umbilical amino acid uptakes in pregnancies associated with
intrauterine growth restriction and in pregnancies with gestational
diabetes.
- Ultrasound
evaluation of foetal fat and lean mass during pregnancy: comparison
of traditional parameters of foetal growth with new parameters
of fat and lean mass in normal cases and in pregnancies associated
with gestational diabetes.

Randomized study of treatment in gestational diabetes: traditional
approach versus a new approach considering not only maternal glycaemic
control but also the indirect evaluation of foetal insulinization
by studying the pattern of foetal growth.
- Evaluation
of the early maternal adaptation to pregnancy, particularly by
studying changes in maternal cardiovascular function and changes
in maternal metabolism of amino acids and fatty acids.
- Evaluation
of genetic mutations of thrombophilic factors in pregnancies associated
with adverse pregnancy outcomes such as IUGR, pre-eclampsia and
intrauterine foetal death.
- Evaluation
of genetic anomalies related to imprinted genes and to changes
in IGF-I and IGF-II placental production in pregnancies associated
with IUGR
